Ito’s Family Club Story

Some moments stay with us long after the shutter clicks.

As a Los Angeles family photographer, I have the privilege of witnessing and documenting life’s most meaningful chapters. Some sessions are filled with laughter, celebrating newborn photography, maternity sessions, and the simple joys of togetherness. Others carry a deeper weight, reminding us why professional family photography matters beyond just images on a wall. This is one of those stories.

A Family Photography Session That Became So Much More

One of my longtime Family Club members had gone quiet. Too quiet. Ashley, my client coordinator, had reached out multiple times with friendly reminders to book their annual family photo session, but there was no response. Knowing them, this felt unusual, so I reached out personally with a text.

That’s when everything made sense.

“My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer…”

“I’ve been meaning to reach out to you because I would love to get her in some photos.”

We were faced with an unknown timeline and a shift of priorities.

In an instant, the purpose of our family photography session changed. It was no longer just about marking another year, it was about preserving a legacy, holding onto love, and capturing the moments that truly matter.

Making It Happen: A Stress-Free Family Photo Experience

Time was now our biggest challenge. We didn’t know how long her mom would be well enough for a professional family photoshoot, and we needed to coordinate multiple schedules. Here’s how I guided her in what to make of her Family Club session:

  • Turning the session into an extended family experience – We included her parents, brother, and his family so that everyone could be part of these cherished memories.

  • Choosing a meaningful location – Her mom loved strolling through the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. It was the perfect place to document their connection.

  • Fast-tracking the timeline – We scheduled the session as quickly as possible to ensure that everyone could be there.

“… you took the load off of me to figure out all of the details! You made me feel like all I had to do was show up and you’d handle the rest, which is all I had the mental space for right now.”

That’s exactly what The Family Club is about eliminating the stress of planning so that you can simply be present with the people who matter most.

A Gift of Time and Love, The Power of Professional Photography

When the session day arrived, everything fell into place. Thankfully, I’d already had Walt Disney Concert Hall  in my pre-scouted location library! I knew the best angles, the sun’s movement, and exactly where to meet. No second-guessing, just an experience centered around what truly mattered: their love, their story, their family.

They didn’t wait until it was too late.

I created The Family Club because life moves fast. Because we can’t predict what’s ahead. Because these moments deserve to be captured, before kids grow up, before seasons change, before we say goodbye to someone we love.
